“Head to this golden-stone village in the heart of the Dordogne for its Sunday-morning market, and you’ll come out laden with delectable treats. Producers of all manner of local produce line the narrow, winding alleys, overlooked by half-timbered houses. Duck is the Dordogne’s delicacy, so you’ll find jars of confit de canard and pâté and — if it’s the right season — strawberries, asparagus and truffles. You can also buy wine direct from producers and bread that’s been baked in situ in a mobile bread oven.
Where to eat: L’Atelier is a charming restaurant offering modern twists on classic dishes.”
We have offered through AirBNB to host a Ukrainian family for as long as they might need to settle in to life in France.
The French government have offered support to fleeing families and we think our little house would be ideal for a family of six.
We are therefore holding off taking bookings from paying guests for the moment and trust this meets with your understanding.
We’ve had few guests this Summer due to Covid but those who have been have left lovely messages in our guest book and another great review on AirBNB.
We have availability from mid September to the rest of the year so if you, like us, believe this weather will continue than it’d be the perfect time to come out and enjoy a French ‘Indian’ summer well in to October.
Calling all fans of LPC: We only have two sequential weeks still available this Summer from Saturday 19th June to Saturday 4th July. While this won’t be of much good cheer to those with young children it does mean that those unencumbered by the school dates can still reserve their ideal get-away-from-it-all break in the French country side (less than half an hour from the nearest airport (Bergerac) and served by Southampton, Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester, London City, Southend, Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Exceter, Leeds, Liverpool and Rotterdam, Brussels and Nice).
Please use the link below to check availability but contact us directly for £100 off the Trip Advisor price.
We look forward to hearing from you.
We’ve had no less than four enquiries for New Year and early January but I’m afraid due to some rough treatment of the house from recent guests we are in need of some maintenance. Please expect Le Petit Capelier to be available from 14th January. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Please note two weeks in July (13th to 27th) and Aug (3rd to 17th) are already booked so please do get in touch to secure your stay for Summer this year.
Beautiful house with amazing garden and fantastic pool
My partner and I stayed at Le Petit Capelier in September 2018 where the weather was still very warm.
It was my second visit to the house and there have been improvements since the first. New double doors to the living room and lots more useful items in the kitchen.
The house is deceptively large and would easily suit six people but we were lucky enough to enjoy it just between us.
The garden is entirely private and the pool is absolutely lovely and seems to be cleaned twice a week; we spent most days on the wooden loungers enjoying the tranquility and privacy.
We hired a car locally and managed to see Issigeac (amazing medieval village very close by), Chateau Bridoire and did some light shopping in Bergerac but mainly just stayed at the cottage where you really feel like you’re in the middle of deepest rural France (but actually you can get to Bergerac airport in twenty mins by car).
We hope to return next year
